It's not all doom and gloom (and when I re-read that P.S. from the last post, it's a little grumpy sounding, no?). I've been feeling a little out of sorts because I'm used to having best friends next door, a close-knit group of friends who live less than 10 minutes away, a great yard for playing*, Dunkin Donuts within walking distance, a clean-feeling house* and a fairly busy calendar. It's not quite that way here...yet. But things are looking up! I have a lunch date tomorrow and Wyatt and I are starting MOPS on Thursday. I can only imagine MOPS will be perfect since it's two and a half hours of Wyatt playing with other kids while I hang with other moms. Plus Millie & Wyatt both go to the doctor next week (appointments! For my calendar!) and I have my first squadron coffee to attend. Woo hoo! Simple pleasures.
*these two frustrations don't look to change anytime soon. Grass doesn't grow on sand and dark green rental carpet will never feel clean. But won't my new house feel shiny as a new penny come March?!

So, to help fill up your calender, when should Michael and I come visit, or when do you want to head over to Jacksonville? We have oodles of grass and a shameful expanse of toys, and this part of FL is definately the northeners relocated vs the locals. You are always welcome!
I, too, have recently started having longings for life on Okinawa again. However, to avoid misery and sadness I have to remind myself that the things I miss about it are the way things were and not necessarily how they'd be today or tomorrow. Neighbors change, the squadron changes, lifestyle changes, and unfortunately the best memories I had were when we were out and about when the weather was comfortable which is like what? Three months out of the year? This time in PC will be over before you know it and you will have fantastic things to look forward to in VA. :) Call me!
You could always come back- your house is still empty. :)
I agree with Lisa, just come back =) I drove by your house today and saw it wasn't filled yet and Lauren said, "That's where Wyatt used to live". We do miss you here! I'm glad you're going to MOPS - I hope you enjoy it as much as we did when we were there. It was a very organized group and a great group of ladies. And I hope the coffee is fun too! Love ya!
Hi, I am a blog admirer from afar (don't worry, not a psycho stalker, a mom of 3 who stumbled on your blog). You are totally hilarious, and I just want you to know that although I love your blog, stop writing for free and become some sort of syndicated neo-Erma Bombeck for our Mom generation. You are a trip and have the best attitude, even when you are "complaining." As you would say, "I'm just saying...." Have a good one :-)
Anonymous,
I'm flattered and dubious - are we related? This sounds like something my family would say, especially the 'get syndicated' part! Thank you, though, for the kind words and unsolicited readership :)
