Baby Candy

Wyatt and I were just sitting here eating breakfast and all of a sudden he's talking about baby Candy. Now, Candy has been his suggested name for our baby since Halloween, so I thought maybe he was talking about that baby. But no! He's apparently talking about his baby. So I asked if I could hold her and he said yes. Then he wanted her back and wanted to go play with her in the family room. I told him if he needed any help with Candy that he should let me know.

He, no kidding, carefully pretend-carried his imaginary baby Candy down the steps then walked over to his toy chest to play with her. Then he said, "help, help!" so I went in and he's still cradling his arms and, therefore, cannot open the toy box. So I opened it for him and then he wanted to put baby Candy down. So we got a pillow off the couch and 'put' her on it. Then I heard him say, "wanna play, Candy? Okay. Oh, I love ooo, Candy." Then next thing I know he's back in the kitchen, 'showing' her the foam apple wreath he made at MOPS last week. "See Candy? I made dat. Here Candy, come in here!" And then he took her into the pantry where he loves to play.

And then he ditched her.

But hey, maybe this is a step in the right direction!

He's going to be a GREAT big brother. So...do you think maybe he's thinking he's going to have a SISTER in the house soon??

He'll be great. You might recall that when Andrew was about to become a big brother Great Grandma decided that he needed a doll with a stroller, etc. He loved it - and mostly loved running the stroller around the house and ramming it into things to watch the baby doll go airborne. But yet, he had the sense not to send Thomas airborne until he was at least 9 months old. :-)

Candy--is that short for Candice?? And is that a unisex name or does he know something we don't?? Anyway, better to take tender, loving care than not, even for pretend. What a character!

Well, you know when Lynda was pregnant with Mallory, we were all convinced she would be another boy. However, big brother Danny insisted right from the moment he learned another child was coming that it was a "baby sister" and would NOT be swayed in his belief. He wouldn't even discuss the fact that "it" might be a brother. And he was right!

What great imagining...not being able to open his toy box! Loved it!

That is adorable! I loved that he needed help with the toy chest because his hands were *obviously* full. Hello!

I think it's great that he's using his imagination. Ty wants a kitchen b/c he loves to pretend-cook. You can imagine how well that's going over in my house. I think it's fine; Daddy thinks if he's getting a cooking apparatus, it needs to be a grill. Men!

P.S. OH! And I think Wyatt's suggestion for a baby name is cute and at least do-able (maybe he's got brotherly intuition?) Ty wanted to name his baby brother Spongebob. Unfortunately we had to veto that one. He also wants four brothers. I say it's a good thing he doesn't do the family planning!

Okay, I'm done now. Too much coffee, not enough adult interaction. :)
