Little Rock Can Roll

This is the face of victory:

We are so proud of Wyatt! After weeks of us encouraging, bribing, cajoling and pestering him about riding his bike without training wheels, he just got on it tonight and took off - literally. The kids were outside before dinner and he'd gotten himself into some sort of trouble, so Jeff made him take a little break. When he was allowed to play again, Jeff reminded Wyatt that he couldn't bug Natalie about her bike (he's preferred her balance bike to his for a few weeks now). He agreed, and when Jeff turned around again, Wyatt was riding the bike without training wheels from the top of the driveway straight into the garage. I'm pretty sure he feels like he can conquer the world, as he should. I also think this speaks volumes about his personality - he wouldn't do it on anyone else's terms, wouldn't really try it until he was pretty sure he could do it right, and I'm pretty sure that first pass was to spite his sister and her fancy balance bike.  Lord help us all, that's my boy! But no matter, because that was it and after dinner he and Jeff pedaled all around the neighborhood. We've officially got a little cyclist on our hands.
